Building a Micro-credential System within a Community of Practice

Adult learners come in all shapes and sizes, with different learning styles and goals. Not only that, a single learner might shift their approach between and within learning experiences. That's why we design micro-credential pathways to fit the needs of all educators. In this session, we'll use an inquiry-led approach to design learning experiences that recognize a broad range of learning products for the various personas within your community. We'll discuss Communities of Practice (CoPs) as a framework for micro-credential pathways, what peer-reviewed checkpoints to include and what platforms are best for awarding these achievements.We use IMS standards to ensure micro-credential pathways are peer-reviewed, award a specific competency and live within a learner's profile, making them easily accessible and shareable.
