The IMS Comprehensive Learner Record and Open Badges standards enable learning organizations to capture and issue learning achievements of students and employees, empowering these learners to share their learning achievements in pursuit of employment and educational opportunities. Open Badges are interoperable and verifiable digital badges that recognize skills, competencies or other achievements, while a Comprehensive Learner Record is a verifiable collection of achievement records. Platforms that adopt the CLR and/or Open Badges standards are able to create and issue verifiable machine-readable records of learning achievements such as grades, courses, credentials, competencies, badges, and more - beyond traditional transcripts. Participants will gain a deep knowledge of these standards and be equipped to implement the free CLR 1.0, Open Badges 2.0, and Open Badges 2.1 open standards in their products and join the interoperable digital credentials ecosystem.

In this combined CLR and Open Badges bootcamp, participants will:
  • Learn about the CLR 1.0 and Open Badges 2.x data models and APIs
  • See demonstrations of CLR and OB reference implementations and proof of concept applications
  • Get oriented to the specification documents and other resources
  • Learn how products can become IMS-certified for CLR 1.0, OB 2.0, and OB 2.1
