LTI Advantage is a groundbreaking standard that takes LTI to the next level. However, this doesn't mean that every learning tool provider will build their integration using the best practices that IMS tries to encourage its members to use. Not all LTI tools are created equally, even if they are LTI Advantage certified. This can sometimes cause institutions and the LMS providers distress and confusion. In these early days of LTI Advantage, it is critical for the institution and the LMS provider to have a solid relationship, so tool providers can be encouraged to build complete LTIs and go the extra mile to fully utilize the services of LTI Advantage that were meant to benefit and enrich the teaching and learning ecosystem. Penn State University and Instructure have partnered to help learning tools better understand the path to creating an LTI the way LTI Advantage was meant to provide.
