Ensuring that learning data is used ethically is a critical consideration for academic institutions and a responsibility for EdTech providers. In this session, we will discuss recent concerns and emergent frameworks for ensuring that data is used responsibly and within both legal and ethical constraints. Building from recently published work on this topic, we will discuss what we see as unproductive trends and approaches that could address these concerns with rigor and responsibility.
