The IMS OneRoster specification defines how student information systems, learning management systems, assessment systems, etc. exchange information about student enrolments, grade books and access to learning resources. Version 1.1 was released in September 2018 and version 1.2 is close to release with release to the public expected in the May of 2020. A recent addition to the specification was support for the exchange of detailed assessment results based upon the OneRoster Gradebook Service i.e. the new Assessment Results Profile. The OneRoster specification has wide adoption in K-12 in the US, is now used in Europe and is under evaluation for use in Japan.

During this bootcamp the IMS staff will describe the OneRoster specification and will explain the relationship to the Assessment Results Profile. The process of conformance and certification will be explained and demonstrated. Attendees at the workshop will learn:

  • How the OneRoster specification can be used within various learning systems
  • Why there are both REST API and CSV based data exchange methods
  • About the new features in OneRoster 1.2 can and how to upgrade from version 1.1 to 1.2
  • How the Assessment Results Profile can be used as a standalone solution for results reporting
  • How to use the OneRoster and Assessment Results Profile conformance test systems to become certified
  • How a development team can make best use of the OneRoster specification and released artefacts
  • About the relationship between the OneRoster specification and 1EdTech
