Dr. Kyle M. L. Jones is an assistant professor at the School of Informatics and Computing within the Department of Library and Information Science at Indiana University-Indianapolis (IUPUI). His research focuses on data and information ethics issues associated with educational data mining tools and practices (e.g., learning analytics). In addition to his ethics work, he conducts empirical research focusing on the micro-contextual effects of data mining on professional communities within higher education. He is the PI on an IMLS funded project entitled “Data Doubles,” which focuses on student perceptions of their privacy in relation to learning analytics practices.
